Yesterday we had a super time with Lisa and Layla.
Brought them to church with us at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral,
which they enjoyed immensely -
except for the part where Lisa took Layla out to the little ladies room,
and when they came back, a latecomer had taken their seat at the end of our row.
Layla said, “I’m gonna go pull that boy’s hair!”
Lol!
Lisa discouraged that response,
and eventually they were able to get back into the their seats without resorting to fisticuffs.
After church I drove home (we had taken the suburban, since the minivan is out of commission)
and then at home, Paul got CEL and I followed him to the Goodyear store.
He had to cut his weekend at the ranch short when he picked up a piece of wood in the sidewall of a back tire. He had tried to fix it in St. Johns on Saturday,
but nobody was open;
so then he drove to Show Low,
where one store was closed and the other did not have the size tire he needed in stock —
so he just ended up coming home,
arriving around supper time on Saturday evening.
Needless to say,
he really needs to go to the ranch now!
Anyway… Goodyear for some reason told him to come back Monday.
Ok… ?
Don’t know why he couldn’t leave it with them while he was there, but whatevs.
From there, we went to Jack in the Box for a quick little lunch.
THEN, Paul took the four youngest home with him in CEL,
while Laurent and Lisa accompanied me across the parking lot to Safeway.
There we picked up the fixin’s for a celebratory supper.
Back at home, the kids perched themselves in the living room to watch Lisa’s favorite series of the many we have acquired on DVD,

Monk.
While they were hooting and giggling in there,
Layla and Geneva were having a high old time jumping on the trampolines
(the big one outside, AND the rebounder inside)
and playing with jewelry!

Paul gave Lisa her
Graduation Pickles…

Girl LOVES Grandma Heidmann’s pickles!!
And while they were all doing THAT,
I whipped up a wacky cake.

Here is the first layer of the cake, with butter-cream frosting and maraschino cherries.
After THAT, I prepped the supper fixin’s –
a taco salad buffet.

And before it was all finished, there was the inevitable toasting of the graduate:

(Layla reeeeeeally likes the sparkling grape juice!)

Words cannot express how proud we are of our god-daughter.
This is an amazing accomplishment,
and we thank God for his grace in helping Lisa persevere
despite the drama
and many and varied obstacles.
God is Good!
CONGRATULATIONS, LISA!!!
(Lisa will, in a few weeks (late, because I am always a little tardy), be receiving her graduation afghan — she requested a Rainbow!)
