  • Nettie Brings the Color - Kitchen, Part I

    Behold,
in the twinkling of an eye
    (that, and many hours of
    standing on a step stool
    laboriously and painstakingly painting
    walls,
    ceiling,
    and cupboard trim,)
we have gone from boring beige,
    to
    Songbird Blue
    and
    Citron!!!

What would I do without my cupboard door painter?

And these sprightly girls for whom it is nothing to climb up into the corners to paint the ceiling and back sides of the cupboards -- they truly save my bacon!

Yes, it is starting to take shape, definitely.
    A few more cupboard doors,
    a few more drawers,
and we'll be able to put it all back together.

    Until then,
I have the coffee maker plugged in on the bathroom counter.
Because I can't do this job without caffeine!

  • Up-side-down

My world has been turned upside down.

Actually, I have done it to myself, willingly, with malice and forethought.

The painting of a kitchen is not for the faint of heart, I have learned - nor the trembly of knee, nor the weak of deltoids, nor the tender of sacroiliac.  I, being in possession of all but the first, dove in head first.  And now I am up to my eyeballs in it, going into the third day, and considering that third day is a "day of rest" -- I foresee this stretching out through a fourth day at least.

Here is a chronicle of the adventure in the kitchen, and this will give you an idea of what I'm wading through, and why it's been quiet on the Nettie front of late.

Clearing the counters was only step one...
    step two was scrubbing!

    and scrubbing...

    and scrubbing...

    and scrubbing...

    and scrubbing some more!

I am truly a blessed woman to have such angelic helpers.

But where, you ask, did you put the
    stuff?
    Answer:
    Everywhere else.

I almost like this kitchen when the counters are completely empty.

    But the color...
Yeah, you're right.  There IS no color!
This is completely out of character for the rest of my house.

You see it too, I know you do.
    I had no choice!

Stay tuned for the next post,
    when
    Nettie Brings The Color.
