Month: October 2010

  • Kids will be kids…

Just when you think they’re working
    angelically on their
    schoolwork,
all in their particular hidey holes,
    the cackling and crowing
    and general joi de vivre
    from the next room
    beckon you to investigate,
    and you find,
    to your chagrin,
    but not really surprise,
that a whole lotta hoo-hah is
    what they’re up to.

    So you sigh with exasperation…
    and get your camera.

Then you tell them to git their butts back to the dining room table!

  • And then there were seven… (again)

When the joyful decision was reached
that mother would indeed be spending the winter here
    with us in our home,
then commenced a great tumult and
    over-turning of all things
for the making ready of a place for her.
And here is what it looked like:

    The dining room was emptied:

All the computers in the house had to be moved.
That business was all on Paul:

The kids had to clear their desks:

Paul had to clear his desk:

Then he had to MOVE his desk:

And here is where Nettie’s desk ended up:

    I know, I know.
    The office is still white.
But not for long, my friends… not for long.
Here are spaces readied for new occupants:

    Getting the desks in place:

Moved in to the new work stations:

Mom trying out her new recliner chair:

The moving of the school bookshelf from the old office to the new:

Everyone enjoying the new look of Mom’s room:

Jacob celebrating the imminent arrival of his new couch bed:

A few odds and ends needed to be picked up:

The moving of the extremely heavy oak mission style futon couch was both complex and comical:

    Not gonna fit.

    Taking it apart:

    Ecstatic boy!

    At last!!

    Joy and comfyness!!

The new dining room is almost complete:

    New sitting room:

The morning light in the dining room is lovely:

And finally, the finished dining room:

    ~*~*~*~*~

We all love everything about the new arrangement!
Thanks to mom for inspiring a great change
    for everyone!
