Simple Woman's Daybook - June 22nd
Outside my window......... Just like my Gmail status, "Blue skies and sunshine!"
I am thinking........ about the fact that I need a new filler for my Franklin Planner.
From the schoolroom........... I have three beloved children each of whom require a special kind of scholastic and disciplinary attention from me today. I am praying that God will give me the fortitude to maintain the necessary focus.
I am thankful for........... Every day -- my amazing husband who is so consistent in his sacrificial love for his family. And more particularly today, that the tummy germ seems finally to have exhausted itself and everyone is back to normal-mode. After a week of vomiting and extra laundry, it will be nice to have a healthy crew again.
From the kitchen........... If I were able to do this, I would be in my 7th heaven. I couldn't really eat any of it, but it would be a treat just to put it together. Alas, I have none of the ingredients (save broccoli, and mine is frozen, not fresh). I will have to fish some meat out of the freezer and start a slow-cook meal.
Thanks to Laurent's Saturday baking, we have fresh bread to munch on throughout the day as needed in combination with various other tasty morsels.
I am wearing........... a shirt 4 sizes too big (woot) and cut-off sweat pants... getting ready to hop on the bike for some morning exercise.
I am reading........... mostly just FB status updates and Xanga blog entries - but I am making slow headway through "Darcy's Story"
by reading a paragraph or two whenever I have occasion to spend time in the smallest room.
I am hoping........ to reinvigorate my world by returning to my exercise regimen, which has eluded me since my return from the land of cold and wet unto the land of hot and dry.
I am creating.............. Just started working on a scrap afghan (using leftovers from my winter hat-scapades) -- here's the progress so far:
You can see here that I am just going all the way to the end of each scrap, which doesn't always take me to the end of the row. But that is just part of the charm of a scrap afghan, no?
I am praying.......... for our friend Susan to get the medical answers and pain relief she needs now that she's being referred to specialists at Mayo Clinic.
Around the house........... Mostly great since we had that Saturday at home to tidy up. Other than the legos, of course. Keeping the boy occupied with school will help, provided I actually am able so to do.
One of my favorite things.............. Dads and Kids and Dogs.
A little bit of wrestling on Father's Day.
A few plans for the rest of the week........ Let me see... Karate, Mon/Wed/Fri; Tues. night church; Wed. eye apt. for Meg; Thurs. shopping extravaganza; School every day; keep Laurent busy with chores so she wont have time to play Age of Empires or read Google Books
... yep, I've got a full week planned. Here is a picture thought that I am sharing with you............
Megan has been inspired by the maps of Middle Earth to create her own world, filled with mysterious islands and sea creatures... so far, this is about 22" square. I don't know if she will keep adding to it or not; but at any rate, it is awfully fun to examine the detail she has included.

Hey! Great "scrap afghan"! Love the "whimsey" of that kind of thing....
Also---the "Map Project" is quite awesome! All the detail brings memories of Jeff's intricate, detailed drawing in his younger days!
@MelodiousMama - I always wished I could draw like Jeff...
Megan needs to start writing stories to go with that map . . .
@MamaMentor - She has several stories in various stages of completion, but I don't know whether any of them actually go with this map yet!
She's got lots of irons in her creative fire....
