So, I dipped my toe in the Twitter Pool today... all the talk about how massively Twitter has affected the Iranian uprising got my interest piqued. I'm not sure I'm able to do it correctly though -- I get the impression that people who are Twitter-meisters of the highest order are using their telephonic devices to keep the updates flowing. I am merely web-based, and thus, clearly handicapped. I'll give it a week or so before I decide if this is worthwhile or not...
How did I have time to fuss with this? Well, it was a strangely quiet, disconnected day around the Heidmann Hacienda. Geneva was gone. You wouldn't think the whole house would be that much quieter with the absence of one child, particularly the one that seems the least noisy, but it really made a difference. Everyone was off their game, and I in particular decided not to push it. So it was basically a day off for everybody -- except Geneva and Daddy, who got up at his usual 3:30 wake-up time and headed off in the dark for the General Dynamics "Take Your Child To Work" day.
I got a call from Geneva at 7:27 a.m. to tell me how
bored she was.

I think the pace picked up once the rest of the employees and their children started to arrive around 8 a.m., but after all their running around to demonstrations and meetings and fun things for the kids, nobody was getting any work done around General Dynamics, and certainly not Paul. So they came home early. That was a great blessing to both the parental units, as we were able to nap before the evening's church festivities. Always beneficial on a church night!! You never know just how much energy will be required...
It was a relatively calm and uneventful evening, despite the 22 kids in attendance. Our god-daughter brought yet another friend with her to church -- she is the energizer bunny of evangelism. I've never seen anybody who could bring more friends to church. She has been doing so steadily ever since we met her 7 years ago.
And the evening ended on a high note. I was highly amused at the Q.O.D. Paul overheard while en-route with the mini-van full of 12 kids from the 'hood. As they approached the church, he heard a loud exclamation from behind him,
"Awww, bleepity-bleep-bleep-bleep -- I forgot my BIBLE!!"
Sometimes - in fact, usually - the progress seems imperceptible... but, a young lady who just received her first bible last week at church, wanted to bring it this week, and that, despite her incongruous declaration, is a good thing.

LOL @ the girl who forgot her bleepity bleep bleep Bible! Hilarious!
I'm not a fan of Twitter. I think I will avoid it altogether. Updates on Iran can be found at just about any news site or on youtube.
Funny!
I did Twitter for awhile, stopped for several months, then started again. I think I'm starting to like it more than Facebook. Facebook is like hanging out at the mall with a bunch of friends...lots of things to do, noise, activity, etc....Twitter is more like hanging out at a cafe with lots of friends. Plenty of conversation, but less hyperactive
What's your Twitter name--or are you giving that out yet?
@My_name_is_Angie - I'm twittering as nettieheidmann -- very creative, I know! lol!
I tweet, and was feeling like maybe it was unjustifiable narcissism based on some critiques I read... but then I discovered John Piper's twitter, which has great thought provoking scripture filled tweets. So now I'm posting fewer tweets but I'm staying on twitter more to keep up with others.
I haven't taken the Twitter plunge yet . . . don't know if I will. I can't imagine anyone being that interested in the minutiae of my daily life. And a day off from school occasionally is a good thing! (As long as it doesn't happen too often.)
@My_name_is_Angie - I like your comparative analogies.... I think I agree (from my limited experience of both). And what's not to like about a café, right?
@Gnattygirl - Yes, there are quite a number of interesting people to "follow" -- they certainly have more to say (both in quality and quantity) than I do! lol!
I have NO IDEA about "twittering" or "tweeting"...whichever word is proper...and the fact that I was "dragged" into "facebook"...tells me I think I won't try to venture into "twittering"! Just keep me informed if there is anything worthy of noting , eh?
@MelodiousMama - no worries... I can already tell this is not your cuppa tea, and the jury is out as to whether it's mine!
