I'm packed!! And it's not even tomorrow yet!! Feels a little weird to be this ahead of schedule...
Fun thing happened at Del Taco tonight... but a little background first: We've been going to this Del Taco for many years on Wednesday nights before church. So now that we do church night on Tuesdays, same deal, different day. Anyway, they know us. We have stuck with them through thick and thin, including that one time when there was a gang fight and all the kitchen staff ran outside to join in and the police were called, all while we were sitting there, looking out the window at the whole thing. We had to sign statements and everything. It was pretty wild! Anyway, they love us because it didn't drive us away. They even know our order, which is virtually the same every week. And the manager often comes by and give us free dessert for the kids, churros and brownies and whatnot.
So anyway, tonight Paul and I go up to the counter, and the lovely and gracious Manager-Lady is at the till taking our order... and when I take the cups to go over to the drink machine, she finishes up with Paul, and then comes out from behind the counter and right over to me, and says to me in her thick Spanish accent, "You look SO GOOD! You have lost a LOT of weight! I can really tell, in your face especially, but everywhere!" She went on and on with such exclamations and encouragements -- I felt absolutely on top of the world when she was done with me!!

It was completely unexpected and especially gave me a boost since I have been on a plateau for a couple of weeks.
Anyway, I'm feeling very up and motivated as I go into my vacation weekend... hopefully the time at the ranch climbing hills will rev my metabolic engines a little and kick me off this plateau!

Whoa! What an encouragement! Just a few words like that can really help you and motivate you ! Keep them in your mind....so you can "feast" on them while you're at the ranch!
Have a good time, and climb some hills for me. We don't have many hills in Indiana.
It's SO NICE when someone notices, isn't it? My own loss has been so gradual that so far only one person has commented. I was pretty jazzed though when I found out that I actually lost weight over my birthday . . . Have a great time at the ranch!
@MelodiousMama - For sure -- that's about all I'll be feasting on I expect!
@ata_grandma - Living in the Valley of the Sun, it's pretty flat down here too. If I drive a few miles in any direction I can get to some mountains, but I can't be driving all the time just to walk, so it just stays flat for me. I LOVE getting out to the ranch and giving my muscles something to work on though.
@MamaMentor - Awesome -- I'm so happy for you! The best upside to giving up cake (and gluten, and all that other delicious stuff)!
And thank you, I think we will have a terrific time. As of last night, the AZ budgetary impasse had most of the state parks closing due to lack of funding, so the annual fireworks display we attend at Lyman Lake State Park will probably not go forward -- but nonetheless, we are certain to have a great time, and probably bbq with our ranch neighbors and let the kids run around with sparklers. :)
That is great! It's one thing for friends and family to notice, but when it's someone outside of that circle, wow! Good for you and keep up the great work:)
@Punk_Rock_Mommy - I know, right? When it's somebody you don't even expect to take note of you in general, it's pretty encouraging.
Yay, Nettie, Yay!
